The UN suffered a cyber attack in 2019

The United Nations (UN) suffered a cyberattack in July 2019, but it has now been made public. The networks of the UN offices in Geneva and Vienna have been attacked and servers have been infected.

The most worrying thing is that the main UN headquarters have been attacked, specifically, Geneva. In addition, the servers attacked have been those of the Department of Human Rights and those of the Department of Human Resources.

Furthermore, the UN confirms that at the moment it is not able to know which information has been stolen and which has not, since 67 computers have been hacked, of which 42 are classified as compromised and 25 as suspected of having been hacked.

Firstly, as highlighted by Shay Nahari, Head of Red Team Services at CyberArk, the UN must focus on undertaking actions aimed at remediating management after the hack. Since once they have entered, they can hide and attack later to obtain more information.
